Bit of a Snag

Well, like the title says, I have hit somewhat of a snag in the story.

I think I can figure it out, though. *calls for his muse*

Doing good for a change

Well, as I said in my last post, I got a brand new idea. And it's working! I haven't been this into my writing in quite some time, so I am gonna just run with it and see where it takes me.

for those who didn't get my hint (which is probably most of you. It was a bad hint) the blovel is a Slender Man thing. look him up on google, you will see who he is and why he has such potential for a book.

I have the prologue and first chapter up now, so head to the site via the link in the last post (yea, i'm THAT lazy) and give me your honest thoughts, trying not to flame in the process.

A stroke of inspiration....in the middle of the night.

Well, instead of sleeping like normal people, my muse decided to keep me awake with a new idea. You see, I have been following an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) of sorts. It finally hit me that I should write something based off of one of the characters. I immediately picked up my laptop and began writing, not even thinking of taking my usual steps and creating characters. I had an idea for my prologue, and I went with it. What ARG could it be, you ask? Well, let's just say this SLENDER ROCK of an idea will be with me for some time.

The prologue is up, for those interested: http://theslenderman.blovelspot.com

As Sander Cohen once said, "My muse is a fickle bitch".....but when she wants to, she can drop quite a doozy on me.

Taking it One Step at a Time

I was watching V for Vendetta for the umpteenth time, and every time I watch it, one quote sticks with me:

"While the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power."

In a lot of ways, this quote is what put me on my track to writing. When you think about it, it makes so much sense both in V's world and ours. While television shows may be forgotten or music lost to the radio transmissions sent into space, the written word will forever remain strong and fresh. you my burn a  book, but many will take its place, being just as provocative and heart wrenching. The influence the written word has on the world and the people inhabiting it has dropped significantly.

The world today is a wretched, horrible, and culturally barren wasteland. People today, especially the youth, are destroyed by the media. What do I mean? Turn your television on. Everywhere you look, people are dragged into socially acceptable norms that rid the population of any and every sense of creativity. You are told what to do and how to do it by just about every form of media out there. Buy this, wear that, do it this way, act like them. I weep every time I think of how this world has turned out. you have become a society of "Let's follow what everyone else does, that way we aren't looked upon as strange." I say "you" because I am nothing like any of you. I really don't give a shit what anyone thinks of how I act, what I believe in, or who I am.

Now a lot of you out there would say to me, "You're not the only one. I don't care what people say about me." I laugh at you and I have one thing to say. Nonconformity IS the new conformity. Wherever I go, I see these people who are trying to rebel against society with their Gothic makeup and razor blade cuts. there is nothing I hate more than fucking emos. They cry about how there life sucks. They sit in there dark room, blasting that horrible fucking garbage they call My Chemical Romance and write poetry about death, blood, and blackness. I use the term "poetry" EXTREMELY LIGHTLY.

Having said all that, there are very few of those people, myself included, who have no cares in the world. For those people out there, I applaud you. Still though, those people are far and few between.

So, in conclusion, what we need to do is bring this world back to the days when status didn't matter, when people would act totally different from one another and no one judged them as freaks or weird. We CAN do it, but it has to be done one step at a time.

Back again

Well, here I am. I have been quite busy in the past few months, so blogging had been the furthest thing from my mind, but I am back!

As for my writing, not much in the poetry department, but I have had a plethora of ideas for books. Some brand new, others are my old ideas coming back into the spotlight. I had to dump my computer's files a couple of days ago, so I lost everything. Well, now I have a clean slate and I can start over. I now have a new word processor installed, and it is time to get my ass in gear.

Till next post, I remain yours,

Well this sucks...

My writing has come to a bit of a halt, sad to say. I mean, I have a plethora of ideas swimming around in the imagination tank, I just can't seem to put any solid thing down for any of them. I would blame writer's block, but that seems childish. I'm going to try out my fantasy idea, see where that takes me.

Writerface

I found a social networking site for writers. This is a big deal for me, because myspace doesn't really seem to have many authors, and writerscafe isn't working for me for some odd reason.

The Ultimate Distraction

I have just downloaded over 2,000 Stepmania songs. I will be busy. Sometimes, when i write, I get stuck or can't write anything down. I have heard that distracting yourself and taking your mind off writing for a while helps. Well, Stepmania is my distraction.

Website is up!

I finally got everything on the website up and running. Wo-hoo! I have decided not to post my books on the internet for my own reasons, but I do have some of my poems up. I am really excited to see what people will think of my work, so head over and leave me a comment! http://www.wix.com/gavinkeary/gavin-keary-homepage

Here I go.

My Sector project is still in the works, but I hope to have something down soon. Having said that, there is still much work to be done. Writing can be a bitch to do, but if you have your heart and soul in it, then anything you write will be golden, in my personal opinion.

I have been trying to get my stories off the ground for years, but it seemed like everything was out to prevent my work from ever seeing the light of day. Not anymore. all the things that were digging at me to be done are done, so now, all I have left to do is get my writing started and out there.

Wish me luck!
